Best Farming Simulator
Prize: John Deere backpacks from John Deere
Today’s farmers have access to unprecedented amounts of data, enabling smarter decision-making in the field. Hundreds of data points collected every second over each operation can be analyzed to optimize yield, precisely apply nutrients, and save time and resources each season. Our challenge is to build an agricultural simulation game.
Hacks could include the four basic agricultural operations (tillage, seeding, application, and harvest) and may take things like weather, soil, or other factors that could impact a farmer’s yield into account.
Lemonade Stand is an example of a classic game that captures the spirit of this challenge.

Best National Security Project
Prize: Bose Mini Soundlink 2 Speaker or Jabre Wireless Headphones from Sandia National Laboratories
The United States needs its next generation of engineers to push technological boundaries to solve national and global threats to peace and freedom. Just as Sandia National Laboratories delivers essential science and technology research to resolve the nation's most pressing security issues, we present this challenge category for a dedicated team of hackers to develop an innovative project which solves a national or global security threat. The challenge will be judged by the following criteria: design, security of implementation, ease of use, uniqueness, and threat severity.
For an example problem/solution set see below: The proliferation of personally identifiable information (birthdays, interests/hobbies, family connections, occupation/title, etc.) across social media and the wider internet has enabled many threat actors to conduct phishing attacks and impersonate unsuspecting individuals. Develop an application, methodology, or tool to aid in the detection of possible phishing attempts and alert users to open-source intelligence that could be used to impersonate them.
